Goodbye 2014! (Favorite Products of 2014)

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Happy New Year everyone! My New Year's resolution this year is
to be able to blog at least once a month (fingers crossed!).

2014 has definitely been very eventful from graduating, to starting university, 2014 wasn't the best but it was worth remembering.

I'm not one of those people that believe that just because it's a new year, everything that happened in the past year will be erased and we can start anew. To me, ending a year and beginning a new one, is a chance to start planning how you can make the new year better or how to improve yourself further by reflecting on mistakes that were done in the past year.

Enough with the sappy "New Year" stuff, on to the fun stuff!

I will be listing my top 10 favorite products that I used in 2014 from 10-1, 1 being my ultimate favorite! Along with the list, I will include a brief review/opinion of the product and why it made my list.

While writing this post I'm listening to: Oh Yeah - GD&TOP ft. Park Bom

10) L'Oreal Brow Stylist Sculptor

I bought this because I had ran out of my Face Shop eyebrow pencil right when I started university and I wasn't able to go to The Face Shop at that time (I needed to save my eyebrows!). I ended up loving it and I will definitely still be using this. This was a great replacement, it matched my hair color better than my Face Shop one because but now I know to get a darker shade. I will update this post with the color ASAP. I chose this because it comes with a brush and on the other end it has a gel to set the eyebrows after filling them in.

9) eos Sweet Mint
This is definitely my go to lip balm. I apply this on my lips before I put lipstick. It leaves my lips feeling moisturized all day and I don't usually reapply unless I've completely wiped it off. My lips can get really dry and this saves the day!

8) Revlon Colorburst in Standout
This matte balm stays on ALL DAY! I have been searching high and low for the perfect red lipstick and when i encountered this, I really wanted to try it because it looked like a crayon. I remember when I first tried it on I thought that it was way too red for me but I eventually fell in love with the color, texture, and how long it lasts.

7) The Face Shop's Coral Cushion Blusher in Peach
This blush is not too pigmented which allows for a natural look. I have darker skin so I was initially afraid to use blush but the peach goes great with my skin tone and I use it everyday!

6) Milano's Eyetech Liquid Eye Liner
My cousin suggested for me to try this eyeliner out and at that time I was biased to gel eyeliners and did not have high expectations for this eyeliner but unlike other liquid pen eyeliner, it is super easy to apply and the tip is soft unlike another brand I tried out which felt like a marker tip.

5) Will Update Name
This lipstick was part of hunt for the perfect red/maroon lipstick. This was purchased at Target and this was the shade I was looking for. It is not too red but it is not too dark. It doesn't stay on as long as I want to but it applies smoothly and semi-glossy.

4) The Face Shop's Oil-Cut Sun Cream
I have been using this sun cream ever since I discovered Face Shop. This was one of the first products I had purchased. I use this in my everyday skin care routine. I have an oily face so this oil-cut is perfect. It is easy to spread even though it is oil-cut. This sun cream can also act as a primer because I have noticed that when I don't apply it, my face is a lot more red.

3) MAC's Skinfinish Mineral Powder in Beige
This product leaves my face looking flawless! It truly looks natural and leaves my face oil free, the whole day. I apply this over my BB cream. I feel that this product helps my skin because when I don't use it for awhile, I get a lot of pimples compared to when I use it often.

2) The Face Shop's Design My Eyebrow in Dark Brown
This is my very first eyebrow pencil/gel pen. The shade I got was lighter than my real hair color but it still looked natural. It allowed me to create a nice shape and people thought it was natural. This comes with a brush on one end which is a big plus for me!

1) MAC's Gel Liner in Blacktrack
I will forever love my MAC gel eyeliner. It is super easy to apply and it does not dry out too fast. I love how it allows me to control how much liner I want and how dark it goes on. The brush that goes with it makes it easy and fast to create a nice wing.

Thank you to all my readers and all the support from 2014. I will try my very best to keep blogging more often, 2015 will be a great year! Please continue to support and read (=

Happy reading! Happy New Year!

TheFACESHOP's Baby Leaf Green Tea Oil Free Toner and Waterfull Emulsion REVIEW/Tutorial

Hi everyone! Today I'll be reviewing another Face Shop product. I absolutely love green tea products so of course, I HAD to try this toner and emulsion. I used to use the e'thym line for my toner and moisturizer (you can see it in my skincare routine post)  but, Face Shop recently discontinued it. I ran to the local Face Shop store and had to look for a new pair. I've been using their Green Tea Foam cleanser so I thought that this line would go great with it and let me tell you, IT DOES.

TUTORIAL
I apply the toner after washing my face and drying it. I apply an adequate amount on a facial cotton pad and then wipe it around my face starting from the middle of the face and outwards.

REVIEW
This toner is oil-free so it doesn't leave your face feeling oily. The toner has a green tea scent which I absolutely love! The bottle's opening is an appropriate size to get just the right amount you need on the face pad. One bottle has lasted me for 3-4 months. I have combination skin which means I get really oily but feel really dry at the same time and because this product is oil free but moisturizes is a big plus for me.

RATING
Overall rating: 5/5
Smell: 5/5
Texture: 4/5
Oil Control: 5/5
Pros: It leaves my face feeling very very clean.
Cons: nothing so far!
Will I buy again?: YES YES YES, Actually, I'm on my third bottle now. >.<

TUTORIAL
After I apply the toner, I apply the emulsion. An emulsion is just like a moisturizer. I apply an adequate amount on my fingers and I warm it up between my hands and I apply it on my face starting from the middle and outwards.

REVIEW
The scent is also green tea and what I love about this emulsion is that it spreads so well. My face doesn't feel too wet or oily but it also does its job--it moisturizes. My face doesn't feel dry at all throughout the day after applying this emulsion in the morning. It doesn't make my face look shiny either. When first trying it, it did not break me out, and my face is very sensitive to new things which amazed me. The bottle is the same size as the toner, and they both always finish at the same time which is great cause I won't have to buy one and then the other one on different days.

RATING

Overall rating: 5/5
Smell: 5/5
Texture: 5/5
Oil Control: 5/5
Pros: Moisture stays on all day and doesn't leave me oily/shiny.
Cons: nothing so far!
Will I buy again?: YES YES YES!

The Face Shop's Span Oil Control Pre-Make Up Review

Hi everyone! Long time no blog! Ah... how I missed it...

Today, I have another beauty product review for all of you (I haven't done one in forevah). I will be reviewing a discontinued product from The Face Shop. It is from their Span line. I mentioned this product in my haul.

Front of tube
Back of tube

This product is mean to absorb sebum and minimizes shine and helps with staying power of your makeup. It works like a primer. It comes in a 30 mL tube.

It doesn't really spread easily and it says to only get a small amount and spread evenly but the amount I get doesn't seem to cover the parts I want to put it on. I usually put this on on my T-zone and the middle of face and my chin. It does absorb the sebum and makes putting on BB cream easier and the finish look looks matte and clean.

I must say though, it does not last too long. By the time I get home, I am an oily mess once again. I'll say it lasts about 3-4 hours?

Like I said before, it is discontinued so I've been looking for other alternatives. As you may know, I am an oil control freak.

Overall rating: 3/5
Smell: 4/5
Texture: 2/5
Oil Control: 3/5

Pros: It gives you a very clean, matte looking finish after putting on BB cream
Cons: It doesn't last long enough! )=

Will I buy again? Probably not... I'm looking into other alternatives.

Happy reading! (=

P.S. What do you guys think of the labels? Should I keep it? Yay or Nay? Leave your feedback below in the comments! (=

TheFaceShop's Green Tea Phyto Powder in Foam Cleanser's New Packaging?

Hey everyone! I just wanted to update you guys. So my other face wash was actually in old packaging! I didn't know until I restocked and here's the new one! I've heard it's the international version? I don't know haha!

TheFaceShop's FACE it Oil Cut Powder Pact Review

Hi everyone! I'm back with another make up review. This product is from The Face Shop's line FACE it. It is their Oil Cut Powder Pact.

The one I have comes in the shade of NB 23. It is their darkest shade.I used to use a Johnson and Johnson powder pact I got from the Philippines, ever since elementary school, to keep my face matte because I get SUPER OILY but since I was getting into TheFaceShop, I said "why not try their powder pact?". It was one of the greatest decisions I've made! I've been using this powder pact for about 5-6 months. (These pictures were taken right when I purchased it)

On the back there is this English quote:
"Double-lasting Powder coated in two layers to facilitate perspiration and sebum resistance prevents sheen and dull complexion and maintains the freshness of initial make-up for a long period. Particles in ultra fine texture adhere to the skin delicately to make it appear fair and smooth.
Oil-Cut Complex: A patented phyto-complex containing mung bean extract, birch extract and curly dock extract to prevent skin problems by controlling sebum production."

It's supposed to be for pore/blackhead problems. I really like how it's oil cut so it doesn't break me out.
This comes with an applicator and I use this instead of a powder brush because it gives me better coverage. This is just perfect for my skin because it matches my skin tone a lot better than my old powder. You can't really tell I'm wearing anything on my face but it does give of a smoother natural looking face.

It does what it says it does. I keeps my sebum free for a couple of hours. I don't retouch a lot because it can last me about a whole school day. It keeps my most T-Zone oil free.

It has a flowery kind of smell. It smells cute (you know what I mean!). It also doesn't cake up so it applies very nicely and keeps your face baby smooth.

This has a yellowy base so perfect for those asian skin but it also works towards those fair skinned people like me even though this shade is still a bit too light for me...

Overall rating: 5/5
Coverage: 3/5
Smell: 5/5
Texture: 5/5
Oil Control: 5/5

Pros: It keeps me oily free for a long period of time.
Cons: It is still a tad bit to light for my skin.

Will I buy again? OF COURSE! BEWARE: This product is expensive... OTL

I'm thinking of trying their Oil Cut Dual BB Cream too! Anybody ever tried it yet? Tell me about it (=

Happy reading!
